history

For 128 years, Pépinières Meylan has been laying the discreet foundations of know-how handed down and reinvented by each generation. Here are the highlights of our history.

#### 1898 

Léon Meylan leaves his native Vallée de Joux (Canton of Vaud). Curious and passionate, he travels around Europe to learn about different horticultural practices. Back in Switzerland, he settles in Renens, west of Lausanne, near a strategic train station. He launches in those fields his first crops, in particular fruit trees. 

#### 1955 

Representing the third generation, Jean-Pierre strengthens the company's know-how, particularly in plant propagation, and introduces mechanised production. 

#### 1986 

Brothers Yves and Michel Meylan, the fourth generation, continue to modernise the company: new infrastructures, automation, development of control tools. 

#### 2009 

Launch of the online shop.

#### 1929 

André, his son, takes up the torch. He gradually expands the farm and makes it sustainable. 

#### 1981 

Opening of the Garden Center, designed for retail sales to individuals and managed by Simone (Jean-Pierre's wife). 

#### 2005 

First exports of plants to Western Europe. 

#### 2013 

Rachel and Jérôme (2015) join the company: a nurserywoman and an business economist, they now preside over the family adventure, with a clear division of roles between production, technical and commercial and administrative management.

#### 1898

A pioneer, he produces for a number of large estates and sometimes for municipalities.

A new chapter begins with the move to the Yverdon-les-Bains site. The choice was made with a long-term vision in mind: to secure the company's future, improve coherence and efficiency and provide the space needed to produce under the best possible conditions.
